TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. General & Scope of Service
- Service Provider: These Terms and Conditions apply to all pre-purchase vehicle inspections booked with Check My Auto – Vehicle Inspection Service (“we”, “us”, “our”).
- Binding Agreement: By booking an inspection, you (“the Client”, “you”) agree to be bound by these terms.
- Mobile-Only Operation: We operate as a mobile service. The inspection will take place at a location arranged at the time of booking, subject to safe and suitable working conditions.
2. Nature of the Inspection
- Visual Snapshot: The inspection and resulting report provide a visual, non-mechanical snapshot of the vehicle’s condition strictly at the time of the inspection.
- No Dismantling: Our inspection is strictly external and non-invasive. We do not dismantle, remove, or unscrew any vehicle components, panels, engine covers, body guards, or interior accessories (such as baby seats or seat covers).
- Subjective Opinion: The report reflects the professional, subjective opinion of the inspector based on their visual assessment and experience. It is intended as a guide to assist your decision-making.
- Not a Purchase Recommendation: The report is not a recommendation or an endorsement to buy or not buy the vehicle. The final purchasing decision rests entirely with you.
3. Road Testing & Site Requirements
- Road Test Conditions: A road test will only be conducted if the vehicle is currently registered, roadworthy, and has sufficient fuel.
- Speed & Testing Limits: Road tests are conducted within local speed limits and immediate road constraints. Faults that only appear at high speeds, under heavy load, or over extended driving periods may not be detectable.
- Vehicle Cleanliness: The vehicle’s exterior must be reasonably clean and free of heavy mud, water, or dirt. We cannot accurately assess paintwork, scratches, or previous body repairs on a dirty vehicle.
4. Specific Service Exclusions
Our mobile inspection explicitly excludes the assessment, testing, or verification of:
- Internal Components: Internal engine mechanics, cylinder compression, oil/fuel consumption, and the specific root source of oil or fluid leaks, bearings.
- Hidden Braking Systems: Brake pads, linings, drums, or any braking components that cannot be easily viewed without removing the vehicle’s wheels or protective covers.
- Electronics & Software: In-car entertainment, satellite navigation, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), parking sensors, radars, alarms, and the accuracy of on-board computer modules or odometers.
- Hybrids & EVs: High-voltage electric vehicle (EV) batteries, hybrid drive systems, electric propulsion motors, and charging equipment.
- Specialised Vehicles: 4×4 dual-range transfer cases or differential locks (which cannot be safely tested on sealed roads)
- History & Documentation: Manufacturer recalls, written-off vehicle registers, logbook/service history authenticity, or finance checks.
5. Cancellations, Access, & Liability Limitations
- Limited Access: If a vehicle cannot be fully inspected due to its complexity, lack of access, or unsafe site conditions, we will notify you. If we cannot perform the inspection, a refund or alternative arrangement will be offered.
- Cancellation Policy: We require at least 24 hours’ notice for any booking cancellations or rescheduling requests. If you cancel or change your booking with less than 24 hours’ notice, and we are unable to secure an alternative booking for that allocated time slot, a $80 cancellation fee will apply to cover lost time and scheduling costs.
- Australian Consumer Law: Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
- Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any missed visual defect, error, or omission in the report is strictly limited to a refund of the inspection fee paid by you. We are not liable for any latent, intermittent, or hidden defects that manifest after the inspection is completed.
